Disney World nap schedule for toddlers and babies
The nap decides how a Disney World day with a toddler goes. A rested child can enjoy a parade at 6 PM. A child who skipped their nap is usually done by 3. Planning the day around sleep, instead of squeezing sleep around the day, is the most useful thing you can do.
This guide compares hotel naps and stroller naps, explains which resort locations make a midday return realistic, and gives a sample one-nap timeline plus tips for babies who still take two. Check park hours on the official Disney World site, since they shape the whole plan.

- Best nap plan
- Early lunch, then back to the hotel by around 1 PM
- Easiest resorts for a midday return
- Monorail, Skyliner or walking distance to a park
- Nap spots in the park
- Shaded walking paths, or a lap in a long indoor show
- Evenings
- Return after the nap for 2 or 3 hours, or skip and swim
Hotel nap or stroller nap?
A hotel nap in a dark, quiet room is usually longer and deeper. It also gives the adults a real break from heat and crowds. The cost is travel time: you lose an hour or more getting back and forth, and you may miss part of the afternoon.
For toddlers, a stroller nap keeps you in the park and saves the commute. It works well for children who already sleep on the go. Expect a shorter nap, since noise, heat and stopping and starting can wake them. If your child only sleeps in a crib or bed, plan on the hotel.
- Choose the hotel nap if your child naps poorly on the go, the day is very hot, or you want to stay out late.
- Choose the stroller nap if your hotel is a long bus ride away or your child naps anywhere.
- Mix them: hotel nap on Magic Kingdom days, stroller nap on a short EPCOT day.
- Stroller naps are a toddler plan. Babies under one should sleep on their back on a firm, flat surface such as a crib or bassinet, so if a baby falls asleep in a stroller, carrier or car seat, move them to one as soon as you can, however short the nap.
Which resorts make a midday return realistic
The shorter the trip back, the more the nap is worth it. Three resorts sit on the Magic Kingdom monorail loop: the Contemporary (also a walk to the park), the Polynesian Village and the Grand Floridian. The monorail usually takes a stroller without folding.
The Skyliner connects Pop Century, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach and the Riviera to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. BoardWalk, the Yacht Club and the Beach Club are a walk or short boat ride from EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Bus resorts can still work, but strollers must be folded before boarding and the wait adds up.
Quiet places for a stroller nap in the parks
- Animal Kingdom walking trails are shaded and calm, especially away from the main paths.
- EPCOT World Showcase is a long, flat loop. Walk slowly while your child sleeps, and duck into a quiet pavilion if it rains.
- At Magic Kingdom, Liberty Square and the quieter paths away from Main Street work better than Fantasyland.
- Long indoor shows with air conditioning give you a cool, dim break. Strollers stay outside, so carry your toddler in; many doze on a lap. Sit near the back so you can leave quietly.
- Baby Care Centers in every park have a quiet space when the stroller nap fails.
Babies who still take two naps
Babies under one are safest sleeping on their back on a flat, firm surface, such as a crib or bassinet, and pediatric advice is to move a baby who falls asleep in a stroller or carrier when you can. With two naps a day, that usually means short park mornings and a resort close enough to go back.
If two hotel trips sounds like too much, plan shorter park mornings and accept a lighter itinerary. A rested baby is easier than a long day.
Handling the evening
After a good nap, many toddlers can manage two or three hours back in the park. Use that window for dinner, a parade or rides you missed. Fireworks are often later than a toddler's bedtime, so decide in advance whether to stay.
If you skip the late show, you can sometimes see the fireworks from outside the park or from a resort beach. Leaving before the crowd also makes the trip back much easier with a stroller.
Protect sleep at the hotel
- Ask for a crib or bring a travel crib your child already knows.
- Pack blackout material or clips for the curtains, and a white noise machine or app.
- Keep the same nap and bedtime routine as home: same book, same song.
- Use Early Theme Park Entry if you have it. It lets you fit more into the morning before the nap.
Sample day
Sample stroller-nap day at Hollywood Studios
A timeline for a toddler who naps well on the go, staying at a bus resort where a midday round trip would eat most of the afternoon. It assumes one nap after lunch and bed around 8.
7:00 AM
Breakfast at the resort
Eat early and pack snacks, water and a small clip-on fan.
7:45 AM
Bus to Hollywood Studios
Aim to be there for opening.
Stroller note: Fold the stroller before boarding the bus and carry your toddler on.
8:30 AM
Toy Story Land
Check which rides your child is tall enough for and do those first while waits are short.
Stroller note: Use the stroller parking at each ride and keep valuables in your bag.
10:00 AM
A show and one character
An indoor show in the air conditioning, then one character meet.
11:15 AM
Early lunch
Eat before the noon rush so the nap starts on time.
12:15 PM
Stroller napNap
Recline the seat, keep the canopy open for airflow, and walk a quieter, shaded area. Strollers stay outside shows and rides, so save those for after the nap.
Stroller note: Keep moving slowly in the shade and stop somewhere cool if it is hot.
2:15 PM
Wake up slowly
Water, a snack and one more favorite ride or show.
3:30 PM
Bus back to the resort
Leave before the late afternoon heat and the evening crowd.
Stroller note: Fold the stroller in line so boarding is quick.
4:30 PM
Pool and dinner at the resort
A quiet evening makes up for a shorter nap.
7:30 PM
Bath and bed
A slightly early bedtime after a stroller nap day.
Nap note
A stroller nap is usually shorter than a hotel nap, so plan a calm evening and an early bedtime. If it falls apart, head back to the hotel and call the park day done.
Stroller note
A stroller that reclines deeply and has a full canopy makes stroller naps much easier. Keep the canopy open enough for air to move.

Make it my planQuestions parents ask
Should a toddler nap at the hotel or in the park at Disney World?
A hotel nap is usually longer and better, especially if you are staying close. A stroller nap saves travel time and works well if your child already sleeps on the go.
What Disney resorts are best for naps?
Resorts on the monorail, Skyliner or within walking distance of a park make midday returns easiest. The Contemporary, Polynesian Village and Grand Floridian are on the Magic Kingdom monorail.
Where can a toddler nap in Disney World?
Shaded walking paths, a lap in a long indoor show and the Baby Care Centers all work. Animal Kingdom trails and EPCOT World Showcase are good for walking a stroller while your child sleeps.
Should we stay for Disney fireworks with a toddler?
Only if your child had a good nap and can handle a late night. Many families watch from outside the park or skip them to protect bedtime.
How do you do Disney with a baby on two naps?
Keep park visits short and plan both naps in a crib or bassinet at the hotel, which is easiest from a monorail, Skyliner or walking resort. If the baby falls asleep in the stroller or carrier on the way, move them onto their back in the crib or bassinet as soon as you can.
